What Causes Low White Blood Cell Count?

Hi!

I am African American, age 40 and am concerned about my low white blood cell count. It has been decreasing over the past five years from 3.7 in 2006, 3.3 in 2008, and now 2.2 in 2011. What can be the cause? I have had a skin condition (rash) since the age of 4. Please help with info.

Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
You have persistent leucopenia. There are many causes of low wbc count. Even simple viral infection, malaria, thyphoid can leads to this. Bone marrow suppression also cause that. Consult physician and search for the cause. If you find the cause then take treatment accordingly. Otherwise go for the bone marrow examination to search the cause. Then take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
