What Can Cause Palpitations And Shortness Of Breath While Lying Down?

Is it normal to get a racing heart, palpitations and shortness of breath when I lay down flat in bed? It s usually after going up the stairs but not at an energetic pace and I have neither shortness of breath or palpitations while doing so or when I reach the top- it can be a good few minutes of not very quick movement beforehand, too.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to orthostatic hypotension. Consult a physician and get evaluated. You have to get a serial ECG to rule out cardiac arrhythmia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
