What Can Provide Relief From Burning Sensation In Legs Due To Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia?
Hey my wife is feeling a burning sensation in her legs. Warm auto immune hemolytic anemia. She has been fine for a few years until Saturday when she decided to go to the hospital. She recieved 3 blood transfusions over Saturday night till this morning.....any ideas?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Repeated blood transfusions are associated with iron overload. Iron overload accumulates in different organs of the body like heart, pancreas, skin etc. Iron accumulation in skin causes brownish discoloration of skin and can also cause itching. Thus, I would suggest you to get an iron profile- serum iron and ferritin. In case iron overload is present, iron chelation therapy may have to be started in which excess iron is removed from body using medication.
