Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband has a-fib. he is 53. he is on a regimen of medicines including tikosyn, xarelto, lisinopril and a few others. his heart still goes out of rhythm but less during hunting season or when he is really busy. when this happens it usually only last about 30 minutes or less. the other day it went out and stayed out 8 hours he has also been having headaches. we got another opinion from another cardiologist who agrees that this medicine is the best course of treatment and not recommending ablation, etc. when the heart was out during the night, he also felt his heart racing and he got very anxious. We didnt know what to do. I d read somewhere that orange juice sometimes help with heart racing. does a heart racing indicated a spike in blood pressure for someone with a-fib?
Possible causes are he may be suffering from paroxysmal atrial flutter or fibrillation which may be treated with Tikosyn but the Tikosyn itself may cause ventricular tachycardia to lead to palpitations.
You can get it done 24-hour ambulatory monitoring of ECG with blood pressure. Need echo cardiography. He may need to change anti-arrhythmia drug to control arrhythmia.
Yes in few patients banana, orange juice or raisins may help may be due to highpottacium. please consult your Cardiologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
