What Caues Pain In Jaws And Ears After A Head Injury?
I smacked the back of my head a couple hours ago, at the base of my skull and now my jaw and ears are starting to hurt. Wondering how concerned I should be. I have a chiari malformation that was operated on 4 years ago and the spot I hit is where they removed a piece of my skull so it is very tender etc.
The concussive force from smacking the back of your head was likely translated forward into all the muscles and other jaw structures including the mandibular joints that were probably also rocked during that crash and now you're feeling sore in all those areas that would be the equivalent of banging say your shoulder on the ground and then, having your entire neck feeling stiff and sore...make sense? Those issues will get better with time but the bigger question is whether or not you should be evaluated for the head trauma. I would worry terribly about the Chiari surgery but again, if you were to go for an evaluation after this incident they would probably look at that anyway.
