What Cause Vein Discoloration And Bulging In My Hand?

Vein in my right palm became enlarged and visibly blue/bulging without injury or stress. The vein was first noticed when I washed my hands. The vein spot was extremely painful with sharp nerve type pain. This puzzles me. I could understand if I had injured or strained the palm, but this is not the case. Ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This seems to be ganglion lesion in the hand giving rise to all above said symptoms.

I would request you to attach a high resolution clinical photograph of the hand so that we can figure out the issue thoroughly and management plan can be decided.

Till then suggested to take Tylenol for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
