What Causes 140/90 BP After Switching Medicine From Nuril To Telma?

Sir,I am 32 years old using Nuril 5mg tablet for the past three years.Two days back my doctor replaced Nuril 5MG with TELMA 40MG.For the past three months my BP is 140/90.I am comfortable with Nuril 5mg.Shall i use Telma 40mg.Any side effects with this tablet.Kindly suggest.

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. Nuril or enalapril is a medication whose most common side effect is dry cough; because of this side effect, many times patients get switched to a similar class of medications like Telma or telmisartan, that does not have the cough side effect. 5 mg of Nuril is a low dose, your target blood pressure should be less than 140/90 so if your doctor thinks you need more medication he can increase the dose
