Hello,
Your father, aged 82 is diagnosed with second stage
cancerous tumor. 2nd stage cancerous tumor means the tumor is 2cms and 5cms in size but there are no cancer cells in any lymph nodes. Some patients with cancer are treated with radiation with
hormone therapy while others require a combination of treatments like surgery, surgery followed by radiation, radiation only. Treatment depends on the symptoms and severity of the growing tumor and the patient's response to the treatment being given.
Patients may require surgery with
chemotherapy. There are other treatments also like
immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or hormone therapy. Do not neglect treatment as stage 2 cancers are more likely to spread without treatment than stage 1 cancers. Get connected to medical
oncologist, radiation oncologist and surgical oncologist to assess the stage, treatment and response to the treatment. Get your father treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
