What Causes 87 Year Old To Bleed From Behind?
MY FATHER IN LAW 87 HAS BEEN BLEEDING FROM THE BEHIND. HE IS 87 AND IN A HOME. THEY JUST CALLED SAYING THAT THEY ARE SENDING HIM TO THE HOSPITAL. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS HEMROIDS, BUT AFTER 2 WEEKS OF OINTMENT TREATMENT, HE IS BLEEDING MORE. WHAT CAN BE GOING ON?

hi. welcome to health care magic. Bleeding from anal canal could be due to haemorrhoids. other possible cause could be tumour in the large intestine. Elderly individuals with bleeding from anal canal, it is very important to rule out cancer of large intestine by undergoing a test called colonoscopy. An ultrasound abdomen is also advised along with complete blood workup(hemogram). All the best.
