What Causes Aneurysm?

I had a mri and a mra. One doctor said that I had an aneurysm and the other said that the mri and mra equipment at the hospital was not as up to date as the hospital at Mass General. He concluded that I have a bulge not an aneurysms. Please explain why a bulge in this case is not an aneurysm.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
MRI and MRA are magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiography.
MRI and MRA are necessary to make a diagnosis of aneurysm.
Aneurysm is an abnormal dilatation of a blood vessel usually a large muscular vessel.
The cause of aneurysm is weakness of blood vessel which can occur due to high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, etc.
However, diagnosis of aneurysm can be confirmed by a MRI and MRA.
Thus, get these investigations done at a center where these investigations are available.

Thanks and take care
