Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have COPD Bronchitis and Emphysema. My doctor ordered a spirometry exam and called to set up a return appt. to discuss a blockage in my lungs. Do you have a set of questions I can ask? Maybe what it is a symptom of? Or does it only mean Lung cancer? I am 65 years old, I have smoked since I was 11, and and cough up a lot of phlemgh. I grew up in Michigan and was exposed to asbestos and pollution from steel and chemical plants.
History of smoking, along with chronic cogh with phelmn is a typical history of COPD. It is shown as obstructive disease on spirometry.
It does not mean cancer. The doctor may discuss in detail about the management and lifestyle modification. This needs a detailed education about the disease as its probably a life long disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
