What Causes Diverticulitis?

I have diverticulitis and although I have managed to pass a small amount of stool today I am struggling to pass wind and to pass a stool. I am in so much pain with this. I also suffer with a hiatus hernia but I do not know if this has anything to do with it

It is due to inflammation..
Treat with bowel rest and antibiotics therapy.
