What Causes A Cluster Of Itchy Blisters On Legs?

My dad gets a cluster of blisters on his legs about every other month since he turned 80.. He said they itch. After they bust and dry they leave a scar. Took him to doctor because I thought they were shingles but doctor said no. Do u have any idea what this is and what would cause it.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history, your dad is probably suffering from Bullous Pemphigoid. My treatment advice is:

1. Do not squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream on the affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics and oral steroid taken only after consulting a Dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
