What Causes A Dark Purple Bruise On The Buttock Post An Injury?

My office chair slid out from under me causing me to fall on a tile covered concrete floor. I have a huge dark purple bruise one side of the buttock and partially on the other one. It s very slowly turning a little yellow but looks gross. Anything I can do to speed up the fading? I have a little discomfort when sitting on some chairs or driving my car but don t believe any bones are broken. Thank you for your assistance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The use of anti inflammatory pain medication even if the pain is not severe would help to reduce the inflammation in the area and speed up resolution.

The use of a warm compress to the area at least twice daily may help to improve blood supply and also help as well.

Maintaining a healthy diet with anti oxidants such as vit e, vit c can also help to improve blood flow and aid in healing.

I hope this helps
