What Causes A Dry Skin And Scales All Over The Body Of A Baby?
My daughter is now 8months old and have dry skin with fine wrinkles on her hands and legs. Am much worried because i too have a very dry skin and scales all over my body, as a genetic issue will she also have a same problem, can you please suggest a permanent solution for her.
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. It seems, your daughter could be having ichthyosis. It is a genetic condition and is not curable. However, please understand the disease just means that your daughter has extensively dry skin and with use of right products, it can be manged well for her to lead a normal happy life. You may follow these suggestions. Prior to bathing give her a good oil massage(coconut oil/olive oil/almond oil) Use a mild soap like cetaphil for bathing Always pat her dry and immediately after bathing apply a good moisturiser like cetaphil restoraderm/cetaphil dam etc. In night use a thick paraffin or glycerine based cream like secalia/ moisturex soft/ elovera cream etc.
Once she grows up other urea lactic acid based moisturisers can be prescribed for much better results. Hope this helped.
