What Causes A Feel Of Pressure In Left Arm And Shoulders?

I ve had a feeling of pressure in my left arm for about the past 36 hours. It feels like I really need to crack my shoulder or elbow in order to relieve the pain but I ve been unable to do so. It feels like I have a pressure cuff on my arm and that I am not getting as much blood in my arm/fingers as I should. This has happened before but it always goes away within hours. What could this be? Is there anything I can do to relieve it or should I be seeking medical help?

Hello,

You are suffering from pain in the left shoulder and arm. Pain in the left arm and shoulder is commonly indicative of developing heart ailment. Such symptoms are manifested by MI, Myocardial infarction, angina, bursitis and tendinitis. Rotator cuff tear and fractures are other medical conditions that cause the same symptoms after injury due to fall or accident.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all routine cardiac tests, lipid function tests, echo, stress test, EKG, urinalysis, etc., done to detect MI, angina or developing CAD, coronary artery disease. You will be treated accordingly. Angina gets better with rest and nitrates help in the dilation of the arteries involved thus the pain disappears immediately to the improved supply of blood and oxygen. Tendinitis, respond well to analgesic and muscle relaxants.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

You are suffering from a feel of pressure in your left arm and shoulder since 36 hours. You have felt similar discomfort earlier but it has disappeared so you didn't pay much heed to it. You have not given any medical history of your past illness or disease / surgery. Left arm pain is commonly due to problem in the bones, muscles, ligaments or tendons in the shoulder. Sometimes, the discomfort in the shoulder joint may indicate pain from the neck or a pinched nerve.

Medical conditions that may cause such symptoms are developing CAD, coronary artery disease, heart ailment like angina, heart attack, MI, stroke (CVA), etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP / cardiologist. Get all routine cardiac tests, lipid function tests, stress test, CBC, Urinalysis, Echo, EKG done to detect pathology causing you symptoms. You will be treated accordingly.

Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are frozen shoulder, shoulder tendonitis, shoulder arthritis, neurological problems, etc. Get clinically assessed so that treatment can be started at the earliest. In the meantime, do moderate exercises and regular walking. If overweight, loose weight. Keep your blood pressure and blood glucose level at control.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
