What Causes A Feeling Of Throat Obstruction With History Of Cluster Headache?

My boyfriend was diagnosed with cluster headaches (he gets severe headaches above his left ear at the same time each day at around 2pm in clusters and has a teary eye). I have noticed he sometimes says he food feels as though it is stuck when eating (only about once a week and comes with no warning).

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have feeling of throat obstruction with history of cluster headache . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) , tonsillitis , diverticula , esophageal webs and esophageal ring. Sometimes there is nothing stuck inside throat it just psychological . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and eat on or two bananas . Also drink plenty of water . Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and examination with laryngoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti inflammatory and anti allergic . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for GERD .
