What Causes A Hard Lump In Throat While Suffering From Acute Parotitis?
Hi one week ago i was diagnosed with acute parotitus... i was given 625 antibiodic to tske for seven days... this finishes tomor and although my swelling from below my ear and jaw has went down there is still a hard lump and when i eat this swells in size.. i feel very shivery and just in general unwell... do i need to get a drip up to reduce the hard lump on my jaw.. thanks dee
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. Acute parotitis is swelling of parotid gland. This can cause swelling of outer side of jaw just below ear and sometimes in throat also.
As you said that when you eat this swells in size, this shows that there might be some blockage in salivary duct too. After eating increase in saliva production is there, so in case of salivary gland duct blockage. The gland swells after having meals.
You should consult a oral & maxillofacial surgeon, he would evaluate by doing xrays & find if there is some blockage & treat accordingly.
