What Causes A Low Diastolic Blood Pressure Number?

Hello, I am a 65 year old woman who takes 20 mg. of Lisinopril daily. I have a heart murmur that has remained the same for quite some time. I also have Psoriatic arthritis and have several other health problems as a result of this. I occasionally have to get iron infusions. Yesterday my blood pressure was 120/49. My concern is with the bottom number or diastolic. My questions are these - Is it being kept so low because I have a heart murmur and should I be concerned?

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. It could be 'isolated diastolic hypotension' and recent studies have revealed that older people who fit into this condition [ normal systolic pressure > 100 mm Hg and low diastolic blood pressure

2. Diastolic pressure can also be affected by heart valve problems [positive heart murmur], a heart attack or heart failure and as a result you should consult a Cardiologist for further necessary examination-investigation(s) and management.
