What Causes A Lump And A Protruding Vein/nerve Under The Arm?

My daughter in law has a lump about the size of a golf ball under her armpit with a cord running down the inside of her arm to the elbow... Each day it seems to go further down her arm. She has been to her physician. She was given antibiotics to take for 14 days. There has been no change other than it is getting bigger. Today she went for an ultra-sound and mammogram. These tests showed nothing abnormal. The ultra sound shows the cording has no restricted blood flow. She was told to go to a dermatologist ... What is this ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Armpit lumps may be caused by cysts, infection, or irritation due to shaving or antiperspirant use.

These lumps may also indicate a serious underlying health condition.

I recommend doing a complete blood count and a CT scan for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
