Hi,
It is hard to tell the nature of the swelling without looking at it. However, I suspect it is a
ganglion. It is usually a benign swelling. What you have is probably ulnar tunnel syndrome.
The ganglion presses on the
ulnar nerve innervating the little and ring finger. If compressed it causes
tingling feeling, sometimes pain. Your treating doctor should perform a physical examination.
Nerve conduction study. Maybe even order CT or MRI scans. After confirming the diagnosis treatment options are either non-surgical or surgical.
In many cases of ulnar tunnel syndrome, anti-inflammatory medications, such as aspirin or
ibuprofen if there are no allergies, may alleviate symptoms.
Short-term use of a wrist splint may be helpful. If it doesn't help then removing the growth surgical is needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal
