Hello,
I can understand your concern.
CT scan of your gland showed that there is no growing tumors or other growth in the gland. I agree with you that the scan with dye would have been more helpful as it would have shown if there was an obstruction in the salivary duct (duct that transports saliva from
parotid gland to mouth). Obstruction in the duct can cause such swelling.
However, as both sides are affected now, I would advise you to visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and go for examination of the
TMJ area, the joint that helps in opining and closing of the lower jaw along with side to side movements. The surgeon will also look for problem related to the wisdom teeth that might cause such swelling. If nothing is found by the surgeon too, you may got for an
MRI. If MRI comes normal, there might be really nothing wrong with your face and you can accept it as normal.
Your consulting doctor might not have used dye as you are allergic to it and the swelling must be painless. If the duct was obstructed, you might be feeling pain while eating.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
