What Causes A Painful Lump On The Collar Bone Of An Elderly Man?
81 yr. old male with lump on side of neck, size of egg, just above collar bone. It is not on the surface. Discovered last week. Lump is firm, cannot tell if lumpy or smooth. Patient had trouble breathing, not sure if it is related. What could this be? YYYY@YYYY
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Breathing difficulty in an elderly person may not be related to a painful lump on collar bone.Possible causes of the lump may include: lipoma, cyst, phlegmon, Lymphoma, metastatic cancer, Chondrosarcoma. If of cancerous origin, possible lungs metastasis will be possible and may manifest with breathing problems. However, only examination by the Doctor can tell. I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination as only examnation by the Doctor with some tests if need be may help identify cause.Possible tests that may help include: ultrasound of lump, chest x ray. Hope this will help Best regards
