What Causes A Painless Dark Bruise On Lower Back?

I just noticed a small dark bruise on my lower right back (below the ribs, above right hip). I did not have any trauma to the area. I hadn t noticed any pain in the area although there does feel to be minor swelling. I am currently traveling and want to know if this is something that needs to be examined immediately or if I can wait until I return home in 2 days.

Hello,

Very likely it is a bruise due to trauma and most of the times the patients do not remember the trauma that caused the bruise.
There is no need for you to seek urgent medical attention. If the number of bruises increase and new ones come up you will need to see your doctor especially if bleeding in other areas like bleeding gums, nose or with urine or stools or in females vaginal bleeding.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
