I had an medical abortion three weeks ago and i have been on the pill since after the abortion. and today i done a pregnancy test and one line was darker than the other meaning that the result showed positive , i am worried as its been three weeks and i should have had a neg pregnancy test and i dont ... i have no symptons of pregnancy i am confused and i need help.
Hello dear Understand your concern Pregnancy test become negative with in 7-10 days after the medical abortion. But positive pregnancy test (slight positive in your case) after 3 week is abnormal. It may be due to incomplete abortion/remain product, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy. You should consult the gynecologist and get the USG scan and blood HCG level done to confirm the above causes. Incomplete abortion/retain product should be treated by misoprostol or by D & C. Ectopic pregnancies should be treated by surgery with fluid and blood transfusion. Molar pregnancy should requited chemotherapy and surgery Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
