What Causes A Puncture In The Arm Pit With Foul Discharge?

Hi. So I ve had a hole in armpit for awhile. Well both actually. Whenever I would go an touch it, it would sting. There s this discharge that keeps coming out from it. It won t go away even after I clean regularly. The discharge smells. Like (pardon my language) ass. It s been effecting the way I smell. I m a very clean person. What is this? And how can I make it go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

- I would advise you to be examined by a surgeon
- It sounds like a condition known as Hidradenitis Suppurativa --> an infection commonly seen in the armpits.
- You will need antibiotics and possibly a minor procedure to incise and drain these infection pockets.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
