What Causes A Purple Bruise On The Arm After An Injury?

My daughter was hit on the arm by a pitched softball. Her arm has a purple bruise with a red circle then a white or pale center. It does have edema but she says it only is sore when touched or moved in a certain position. What causes the pale, circular center?

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Bruises develop when small blood vessels under the skin tear or rupture, most often from anow injury.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Apply cold compresses, such as ice cubes or a package of frozen peas wrapped in a towel.
-Rub a little tincture of arnica or arnica gel onto the bruise.
-Aloe vera,also soothes skin irritation.
-Take 200 mg of vitamin C daily.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
