What Causes A Rise In The PSA?

Hi, Ed Aaron here. 72 old male with prior treated prostate cancer. PSA is on rise again, jumping a point every six months, 4.3 now jumped to 10.0. I had cataract surgery both eyes two weeks apart five weeks ago. I'm still on Prednisolone, and Nevanac, finished vigamox. What i've read. the steroid seems to be the problem ? thank you.

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Steroid does not cause raised PSA.
2. Slow rise is not significant usually. However, history of prostate cancer, does possibly signify high risk.
3. PET scan would be beneficial in evaluation of recurrence.
4. Vertebrae common site for metastasis in prostate cancer. Discuss with your doctor and get the tests done.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
