What Causes A Thyroid Cyst And Can An Interval Hemorrhage Enlarge It?

Hi my name is trish i recently had an ultrasound of my thyroid.. it states that i have a a cyst measuring 7mmx 5mm.. it has grew from 4-5 mm ..it also states that It may have been enlarge due to mild interval hemorrhage..What does this mean? & what causes it? thank u

I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

You have cyst in thyroid. It can be due to cystic degeneration in colloid nodule or benign cyst or rarely due to cystic papillary carcinoma. Hemorrhage in this cyst may leads to increase the size.

You should go for fine needle aspiration cytology once to search the exact cause.
