What Causes Abdominal And Lateral Pain During Perineal Care For Hernia Patient?
i have a pt with a hiatal hernia. She complains of abdominal pain and right lower lateral pain when performing perineal cares? Could the movenments involved with perineal care (hyperextension of right arm and right trunk rotation) be causing strain on the hernia and increasing pain?
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Yes, this can be the obvious reason as you have rightly thought about. Hyper-extension of the right arm and right truck rotation will cause the increase in the intra-abdominal pressure, and increase in hernial protrusion causing pain. Get investigated and consult a Surgeon to rule out causes of such a pain and get treated accordingly.
