What Causes Abdominal Bloating After Removal Of Cancerous Tumour From The Colon?

My husband had colon cancer a year ago. Had the tumor removed (2 ft. of colon). Did not have to have chemo or radiation as his pathology came back clear. However, in the last couple months he gets gas immediately after eating anything and is going to the bathroom now with movements as many as 6 times a day. Recently it has had blood in it. Sometimes the stools are just like pellets that shoot out. He is due for his colonoscopy in April. He has also developed an incision hernia near his navel (part of the incision area).

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It can happen after bowel surgeries.

As a first line management, you can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get a CT scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
