Hello,
If the
diarrhea and
bloating lasts for longer then 2 weeks then other conditions may be considered.
- milk intolerance after
stomach flu. Some patients take longer for their bowel to recover after the stomach flu and it might cause some intolerance to milk. Try to avoid milk the next 1-2 weeks and see if there is an improvement, you can take yogurt and cheese though.
- if after a week or so that you stopped milk the diarrhea and bloating continues then some tests can be done to rule out parasites like stool for ova and parasites and stool antigen for giardia.
- if these come out normal then stool tests to check the amount of fat in the stools, stool microscopy, stool culture may be done.
- rarely other
food intolerance can be the case and even more rare
gluten intolerance if the problem lasts for months but all the tests come out normal.
-
irritable bowel syndrome can be considered if all the above are ruled out
- if blood with the stools you will need to rule out important conditions of the bowel like crohn, ulcerative cholitis and also bowel tumors
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
