Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Cramping With Fever?
I ve experienced 4 episodes of the following: I start to feel bloated and that feeling increases to the point of cramping and a mild fever during day one. I have no appetite and feel very weak that first day. The fever breaks on day two but my energy level is still quite low. On day three I m basically back to normal. I don t have any food allergies. These episodes have occurred approximately 3 to 4 weeks apart. My blood and urine tests were normal. Any ideas????
Bloating, cramping and fever can be indicative of the following when occurring again and again: Intestinal obstruction of sub-acute variety. Enlarged lymph nodes. Intestinal infection. Tuberculosis of abdomen. Crohns. Diverticulitis. The blood tests may be normal hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: CT scan of the abdomen when in attack of bloating, cramping and so on. Tests of stool for three consecutive days. Relevant blood tests. An opinion of a General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist. All these can help to get a proper diagnosis and thus allow a proper management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
