Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What might cause excessive bloating (my stomach becomes hard almost as hard as when I was pregnant) lots of gas, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea? No fever. Things start to improve once I vomit, but the diarrhea continues for several hours. This is the second or third time it has happened. I do not have my gall bladder, it was removed 5 years ago. I m 53 years old, and not pregnant. I m currently in menopause.
Your symptoms could be related to irritable bowel syndrome. The lack of the gallbladder can trigger this clinical situation, as the normal physiological release of the bile has been altered.
Coming to this point, I would recommend some modifications in your diet (avoid spicy food and fat) and take a lot of fibers.
Consulting with a gastroenterologist for a physical exam and some tests (complete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes) is necessary too.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka
