What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Rumbling?

My family has the symptoms of a stomach bug. Not quite sure how to describe it but our stomachs all feel like they are hungry or are in knots or bloated or a churning feeling even after just eating. It’s not “really” painful but not comfortable either, something just doesn’t feel right . Any idea what it could be from what I have described?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. As per your complain you have problem of abdominal bloating and rumbling sound. Normally after eating a food peristalsis cause some sound in abdominal area. When you are hungry that time some sound also occurs. More fatty food consumption and too fast eating cause a abdominal gas problem. Lactose intolerance or food intolerance cause abdominal bloating problem. Infection of intestine also cause abdominal bloating problem.

Frequent chewing of chewing gum cause entrapment of air. Consult a gastroenterologist for further treatment. Avoid gaseous foods like cabbage, carbonated drinks and cauliflower etc. Simethicone drug can be used for gas relief. Drink more water per day.

I hope my guidance helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana R Goswami
