What Causes Abdominal Bloating While On Amitiza?
Is 24 meg of Amitiza BID cause rapid weight gain ? I have severe bloat in my abdomen ( looks like I am seven months pregnant). Nothing on MRI showed except severe constipation. In addition, I gained 6 pounds in the last two weeks. What can cause this severe distension which occurred prior to the weight gain?

Hello,
A few patients may develop abdominal bloating after taking Amitiza.
It may also cause dry mouth, vomiting, runny nose, cough , headache and joint pain etc.Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.
In a few people, it may present like distension lead (fluid retention) and weight gain.About intake of this drug, then you may consult your physician. He will examine and treat you accordingly.
