What Causes Abdominal Cramps After Stopping Birth Control Pills?

I am a 50 year old female and stopped taking the birth control pill (which was for hot flashes) 3 weeks ago. I have been in menopause for over 2 years. All week I have had bad menstrual-like cramps and radiating around to my lower back. Does this have anything to do with stopping the pill? What could it be?

Hi, I think it can be due to after effect of stopping the pill. You may get withdrawal bleeding and that's why you are having cramps. Consult your doctor if you get bleeding or pain is severe. You can take some pain killers for relief of cramps. Hope it helps.
