What Causes Abdominal Cramps Along With Yellow Mucus Vaginal Discharge?
In the past month I ve had slight cramps every once in a while, white discharge every day that would range from smooth, watery to thick and stretchy. The discharge was occasionally a very light yellow and sometimes stretchy. My last period started October 31st. My next period started a day late on November 29th and this whole week my discharge has been dark brown almost black with only extremely small drops of blood. I have had old blood before, but this is different. There is no blood on my fingers when i try to smooth it around, it is just dark brown/black. I am on birth control and have been somewhat stressed out, but I ve also had unprotected sex a lot this month. Ive taken 2 pregnancy tests this week (on Sunday and Wednesday) and both were negative. Should I go to the doctor? Is this something I should be concerned about?

When you are on contraceptives, there won't be possibility of conception unless you are irregular in taking contraceptive. In such case unprotected sex would not cause pregnancy. Home pregnancy test would show positive after 8 days delay in periods. The white discharge and brown-black, varied vaginal discharge, without burning or itching can be side effect of contraceptive, but abdominal cramps with excessiveness of all above symptoms points at possibility of vaginal / pelvic inflammation. This must be excluded OR taken care of. I would advise culture and sensitivity (if indicated) test of deep vaginal swab. Consult a gynecologist for cause specific treatment.
