What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps Along With Grey Mucus Vaginal Discharge?
For the past couple of days ive had some of the worst menstrual cramps ever. I thought i was getting me period since its normal for ne to have strong pain before period. However instead of a normal period today when using the restroom i had a thick grey crescent shaped discharge with smaller thick grey globs discharged right after. I have had any blood and this glob was not cleer very thick substance. Pain also has not yet stopped. It has been 3 days now since start of pain.
Severe abdominal cramps with grey mucus vaginal discharge is not normal, it is indicative of bacterial infection called bacterial vaginosis. You are suggested to clinically get examined by a gynecologist to confirm BV. You will be tested for vaginal ph and vaginal sample taken for histopathological examination. You will be treated with a course of oral Metronidazole, Spasmol and antacids. Take care of your hygiene. You should not douche. Avoid over washing or use of perfumes, change your tampons, wear soft cotton clothes. Avoid sex and addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
