Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 66 year old female n am experiencing pain in the stomach area. It doesn t appear to be in ternal , per test done. However, more on the outter part of stomach betwee ribs. Can that be such a thing. Pain is on top of stomach by the esophagus and radiates to the back. Its a mystery. Test done endoscopy, mri,cat scan. Any ideas?
Abdominal pain radiating to the back is indicative of gallstone, acute pancreatitis or appendicitis. Some other medical conditions with similar symptoms are GERD, IBS, Gastritis, etc. You are suggested to take fiber rich food to avoid constipation. Take laxatives at bed time if needed. Stay well hydrated. Visit ER, get clinically examined. Get all blood & imaging tests (X-Ray, MRI, CT) done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected & assessment of your clinical condition. In the meantime you can take antacids, antispasmodics & PPI's for temporary relieve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
