Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2-year old has had 3 doses of zofran since yesterday...finally realized his abdominal pain is not linked to his stomach flu but most likely a reaction to zofran. He has had 4 episodes lasting about 5 min each and after the pain passes, he s back to his old self. Last dose was at 4 a.m. this morning-he s 26 lbs. and 31 mos. When will the medication be out of his system completely????
Zofran is prokinetic drug used for vomiting. It increases the peristalsis movement of intestine which sometimes are spastic enough to cause pain. Your child is having typical spastic pain, so stop giving it to your child and pain will be relieved mostly withing 12-24 hours. If not then consult pediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
