What Causes Abdominal Pains While Having Ovarian Cysts During Menopause?
I am writing on behalf of my mother who has been suffering for years from terrible abdominal pains. She was initially prescribed antidepressants and pain killers years ago but she pushed for a hysterectomy as she felt this was the issue which she was eventually given 6 years ago (womb removed, ovaries left in). The pain ceased immediately afterwards but gradually over the years has become worse and worse. She has had cysts on her ovaries in between but has been told after numerous tests by doctors and specialists that the cysts are not active so cannot be causing the pain and also just recently that she is in the latter stages of the menopause (aged 48) which she never knew before.
Her quality of life is terrible, she cries most days and is in extreme pain all the time. She takes over the counter painkillers with ibuprofen every four hours everyday of her life. She is also on hormone replacement.
I have looked into this myself online and could only come up with Fibromyalgia as lots of symptoms matched however my mother is convinced she needs her ovaries removed. Can you give me any advice from what I have explained? We don’t feel she is getting anywhere with her GP.
