I am female, 61yrs, 5ft 7ins, normally 10st 7lb but shot up to 12st in last 6months. very swollen abdomen and uncomfortable. 2005 had mitral valve replacement (previous rhumatic fever) triple bypass grafts then pacemaker (heart block..surgery complications etc) Also lichen planus vulva. Been taking ramipril since surgery, I worry if this is the cause of my problems and could I be suffering from intestial angioedema?
Hello Thank you for writing to us on Health care Magic. Based on your history the response to your question is as follows. 1. Not intestinal angioedema, as there is not abdominal pain or associated diarrhea or constipation. 2. Reduced mobility has led to weight gain through deposition of fat. 3. Need to concentrate on diet with low carbohydrate, low fat and moderate protein intake. Ramipril is useful for heart and would not cause this complication. 4. Water based aerobics, mild walking along with diet will be helpful. Avoid processed and fried foods. Concentrate on vegetables and fruits. Hope this is helpful to you. Do write back to me for further questions. Thank you
