What Causes Abnormal Behaviour In A Child Suffering With Rett Syndrome?
Our daughter has Rett Syndrome and is non-verbal. SHe fell on patio pavers and might have hit her head. Her symptoms are very similar to Reflex asystolic syncope. She was trying to cry and at one point her lips turned blue for about 30 seconds to a minute. Her behavior was not normal. She fell asleep for about 10 mins. SHould we bring her to the ER?
* Following a possible head injury, asleep of 10 minutes should be considered alarming and must be evaluated by CT brain for possible underlying skull bone (mostly pterion) injury, hematoma (epidural or else) etc.
* She must be presented to an ER without delay and prevent secondary brain injury through underlying insult.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
