Hi,
In some cases of
scoliosis, particularly those affecting adults, the bones in the spine compress nearby nerves or
spinal stenosis, a narrowing of
spinal canal is often associated with adult scoliosis which can cause compression of nerves in the spine unilaterally or bilaterally.
According to the position of nerve compression, it may result in shooting pain,
tingling, heaviness, weakness and numbness in the the buttock, thighs and legs unilaterally or bilaterally - a cluster of clinical features known as
sciatica. You should undergo some investigations like CBC with ESR, CRP, CT scan or MRI of spine etc., to detect the exact cause for your present sufferings and then treat them accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General & Family Physician
