General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Aspirin is known to irritate the stomach lining, which can lead to gas and acidity problems. This is because aspirin inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which help protect the stomach lining. When the stomach lining is not adequately protected, it can become irritated, leading to symptoms of gas and acidity.
Other medications that may cause similar side effects include the Tab. Roseday (10) and Tab. Maxxum. These are both cholesterol-lowering medications known as statins, and they can also irritate the stomach lining in some people. It is important to talk to your doctor if you are experiencing persistent or severe symptoms, as they may need to adjust your medication or provide additional treatment to address the issue.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
