Hello,

Colitis is a generalized term and needs further clinical evaluation, examination and investigations to know the cause and thus get treated accordingly.

First all get a clinical evaluation by your Doctor. Tests of stool and blood can be done. If there is an intestinal infection a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics should help you to get a cure.

If this fails then you need further studies of colonoscopy, CT scan of abdomen and thus get the probable diagnosis and thus proper management as per the cause found. If all the investigations are normal then the most probable cause can be IBS that is Irritable Bowel Syndrome and her cause is usually related to the stress and anxiety.

The commonest cause is infection is feco-oral route. Hence, you have to have proper cleaning of utensil, salads, no outside food, check for water source and thus get corrected any cause thus found.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
