I am age 43 with no menstrual cycle since 12/27/2013. I had a recent pap smear.I am not on any birth control, tested negative for pregancy. I have no cramping or pain. I do have occasional hot flashes and insomnia. I exercise very heavily 5-6 days per week, low body fat, low weight, and have a low fat diet. I worked in a stressful environment. Unsure what is causing amenorrhea and wondering if I am going into menopause?Or is my body in perimenopause? Will the menstrual cycle return?
I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Usually menopause is attained between the age group of 45- 55 years. You presents with hotflashes, insomnia etc, shows your menopausal age sets in or due to low weight, diet, stressful circumstances, your cycle would have affected.
I advice you to, -to do Transvaginal at the earliest for further evaluation - PAP smear & breast examination. - calcium & vitamin supplements -Nutritious diet rich in proteins. - YOGA & stress free life - consult your gynaecologist for further assistance.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
