Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom underwent valve replacement surgery 7 months ago. Since then she often has erractic pulse rates. She is often having severe gastric problems. Pls suggest why is she having such erractic heart rates which leads her being exhausted n pale at times . But at times she just have them if she is sleeping or chatting or even laughing. What needs to be done to avoid such impulsive heart rates .
I understand your concern and would explain that her symptoms may be related to a cardiac arrhythmia.
I recommend consulting with her attending physician for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound and some blood lab tests :
-complete blood count -thyroid hormone levels -blood electrolytes -kidney and liver function tests etc.
An ambulatory 24-48hours ECG monitoring is necessary to examine better her heart rhythm and find the proper therapy (beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, etc.) or intervention (pacemaker).
You should discuss with her doctor on the above issues.
Hope to have been helpful!
Best regards!
Dr. Iliri
