Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How would a person end up with an internal abdominal hematoma if they have not had any abdominal procedures done recently? I have had testing for a mass in my abdomen including at CT with contrast and a doppler ultrasound to prepare for a needle biopsy. Now the radiologist thinks it is just a dissipating hematoma, but I can t think of any reason why I would have a hematoma there. I figured it was probably just a hernia.
If a patient has a liver mass that is at the surface of the liver, it may bleed in the abdominal area and cause blood to collect in this space.
Because you already had a mass that you were going to do a needle biopsy, this is very likely what has been happening, especially if the mass was in the liver.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
